EU opens public consultation on PEFCR for hotel accommodation services

The European Commission has invited stakeholders to comment on draft Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) for hotel accommodation services. This is the first application of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method to the tourism ecosystem and services sector. The PEF method is an EU-recommended approach for life cycle assessments (LCAs). The original consultation deadline of March 3, 2025 was extended by two weeks. The PEFCR will help hotels measure and communicate sustainability using harmonized LCA-based methodology.
