Description
Starting March 2027, new facilities and those making major changes in Australia must use Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Environmental Practices (BEP) to control and reduce mercury emissions, implementing Minamata Convention Article 8 requirements. Regulations cover mercury releases into land and water. Facilities using or emitting 5 kg or more of mercury per year must report to the National Pollutant Inventory.
