Description
The Sixth Conference of the Parties (COP-6) to the Minamata Convention adopted decision MC-6/6 amending Annex A to establish a global phase-out of dental amalgam by 2034. The amendment enters into force on 23 March 2027. Parties must implement phasedown measures and eventually prohibit manufacture, import, and export of dental amalgam. The decision includes practitioner-based exemptions for specific patient medical needs.
