Description

The amendments to Annexes A and B adopted at COP-5 (November 2023) officially entered into force on 25 April 2025 for all Parties to the Minamata Convention, except those that made declarations under Article 30(5) or submitted notifications of non-acceptance under Article 27(3)(b). The amendments add new mercury-added products subject to phase-out including mercury vacuum pumps, strain gauges, melt pressure transducers, tyre balancers, wheel weights, photographic film and paper, propellant for satellites and spacecraft, and various fluorescent lamps. Phase-out dates range from 2025 through 2027 depending on product category.
