Description
COP-6 of the Minamata Convention adopted Decision MC-6/3 amending Annex A to establish a global phase-out of dental amalgam by 2034 and phase-out schedules for mercury-containing fluorescent lamps. The amendments enter into force on March 23, 2027 (one year after Depositary notification). Fluorescent lamp phase-outs include CFLs ≤30W by December 31, 2025; higher-wattage CFLs and halophosphate phosphor lamps by December 31, 2026; and triband phosphor lamps by December 31, 2027.
